(KSL News) -- A plane carrying more than 70 tons of hygiene kits, medical supplies, and other relief aid from Utah is on its way to Asia.

The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints combined with with an Islamic relief organization from California to get supplies to remote areas.

Richard C. Edgley, First Counselor, LDS Presiding Bishopric: "This is a partnership between the Muslims and the Mormons. And we're pleased that we can come together to try to relieve some of the suffering that's taken place because of this enormous tragedy."

The LDS Church has members in most of the 11 countries affected by the disaster.
