STOCKTON, Utah (AP) -- Mustard agent vapor leaking from two over-packed 155 millimeter projectiles was detected today during monitoring operations in a storage igloo at Deseret Chemical Depot.
Workers in protective clothing entered the igloo containing the over-packed projectiles and placed the two munitions in larger air-tight containers for continued storage.
The US Army Chemical Materials Agency says the earth-covered storage structure is filtered. NO vapor escaped into the environment, and the release says there was NO danger to surrounding communities.
The depot is about 40 miles west of Salt Lake City.
