SALT LAKE CITY -- The Utah Jazz begin training camp Saturday, Sept. 26 with 19 players after the team added five free agents Thursday.

The Jazz signed NBA veteran forwards Ronald Dupree (F, 6-7, 209, LSU) and Alexander Johnson (F, 6-9, 230, Florida State), NBA rookies Paul Harris (G, 6-4, 230, Syracuse) and Wes Matthews (G, 6-5, 220, Marquette), and former Utah State Aggie Spencer Nelson (F, 6-8, 225, Utah State).

The Jazz returns 12 players from last season's squad and welcomes draft picks Eric Maynor (G, 6-3, 175, Virginia Commonwealth) and Goran Suton (F/C, 6-10, 245, Michigan State).

Dupree, who has five seasons of NBA experience with Chicago, Detroit, Minnesota and Seattle (most recently in 2007-08), averaged 17.5 points and 6.6 rebounds in 49 games (45 starts) for the Tulsa 66ers and Jazz affiliate Utah Flash of the NBA D-League in 2008-09.

Johnson played two NBA seasons (2006-08) with Memphis and Miami before spending last season in the German League. Matthews, who competed for the Jazz entry in the 2009 Orlando Pro Summer League, and Harris were Big East rivals last season as they closed out their collegiate careers.

Nelson previously attended training camp with the Jazz in 2005 and also played for the Jazz entry in both the 2005 and 2006 Rocky Mountain Revues. Nelson played professionally in Germany and Italy before competing last season for Aris Thessaloniki in Greece.

For the first time since 2003, the Jazz will hold training camp in Salt Lake City, with practices being held twice daily at Zions Bank Basketball Center. The two-a-day's go through Monday, Sept. 28.

They'll practice two more times before opening the preseason at home on Oct. 1 against the Denver Nuggets. Utah will travel to Europe to play the Chicago Bulls in London, England, Oct. 6 as part of NBA Europe Live presented by EA Sports. The Jazz will then head to Madrid, Spain, to face Real Madrid on Oct. 8 before returning home to host the Portland Trail Blazers on Oct. 15.

Utah closes the preseason with a four-game road trip before opening the regular season in Denver on Oct. 28. The Jazz regular season home opener comes Oct. 30 vs. the Los Angeles Clippers.
