Carole Mikita ReportingFrom pro basketball star, to recording artist, to Biblical warrior, Thurl Bailey will star as 'Goliath' in a soon-to-be-released video.
The title 'good sport' extends beyond what Thurl Bailey used to do. His wife jokingly told him Goliath is the perfect role for him; his children are anxious to get the DVD.
Thurl Bailey, "Goliath": “It’s kind of a tough character for me to play because I hate to lose, first of all (smiles).”
But the giant from 1 Samuel, Chapter 17 is an opportunity Thurl Bailey has been waiting for, rediscovering a first love. He actually caught the acting bug back in grade school, and the roles kept coming.
Thurl bailey: “I even did some acting in college. We had a production of ‘Of Mice and Men’ and I played a guy named Krooks, a black stable hand. I’ve just always loved theatre.”
Dennis Agle, Co-Director & Writer, Liken the Scriptures: “He’s 6’ 11”, plus the pointy thing on the top adds another few inches. He’s the closest we can get to a Goliath, who’s a great singer at the same time.”
This group has already produced two Book of Mormon videos for children, using comedy and music. With this one, the producers hope to appeal to a wider Christian market and even beyond.

The star says the message is more than Bible stories for kids; it's about battling own personal Goliaths.
Thurl Bailey: “It's not necessarily the little guy against the big guy. Sometimes our fears become bigger than we are and it's difficult for us to face sometimes, so just a great message."
'Goliath' should be released in March; look for the VHS or DVD in bookstores then.
