A look at how NFL players will local ties did during the second weekend of the 2009 season.

  • WR Steve Smith (Utah) started for the Carolina Panthers and caught 8 passes for 131 yards in a 28-20 loss to the Atlanta Falcons
  • OT Jordan Gross (Utah) started for the Carolina Panthers in a 28-20 loss to the Atlanta Falcons
  • TE Chris Cooley (Logan HS, Utah State) started for the Washington Redskins and caught 7 passes for 83 yards in a 9-7 win over the St. Louis Rams
  • WR Kevin Curtis (Bingham HS, Snow, Utah State) played for the Philadelphia Eagles and caught 3 passes for 44 yards in a 48-22 loss to the New Orleans Saints
  • NT Haloti Ngata (Highland HS) started for the Baltimore Ravens and recorded three tackles, a tackle for loss, three quarterback hurries and half a sack in a 31-26 win over the San Diego Chargers
  • FS Eric Weddle (Utah) started for the San Diego Chargers and made 10 tackles including one for a loss in a 31-26 defeat to the Baltimore Ravens
  • DE Brett Keisel (BYU, Snow) started for the Pittsburgh Steelers and recorded 2 tackles in a 17-14 loss to the Chicago Bears
  • TE Daniel Coats (Northridge HS, BYU) started for the Cincinnati Bengals and caught 2 passes for 26 yards in a 28-21 win over Green Bay
  • CB Sean Smith (Utah) started for the Miami Dolphins and recorded a pass deflection and two tackles in a 27-23 loss to the Indianapolis Colts
  • FB Fahu Tahi (Granger HS, BYU) played for the Minnesota Vikings and carried the ball once for one yard in 27-13 win over the Detroit Lions
  • WR Austin Collie (BYU) played for the Indianapolis Colts and caught a pass for a key first down and threw a key block on the game winning touchdown in a 27-23 win over the Dolphins
  • LB Bryan Kehl (Brighton HS, BYU) played for the NY Giants and recovered a fumble that led to a field goal in the Giants Sunday night victory over the Dallas Cowboys 33-31.
  • DL Chris Hoke (BYU) played for the Pittsburgh Steelers in a 17-14 loss to the Bears
  • OL Chris Kemoeatu (Utah) started at left guard for the Pittsburgh Steelers in a 17-14 loss to the Bears
  • DE Ryan Denney (BYU) played for the Buffalo Bills and had 2 tackles, 1 quarterback hurry, and one sack in a 33-20 win over Tampa Bay
  • LB Brady Poppinga (BYU) started for the Green Bay Packers and had 5 tackles in a 28-21 loss to the Cincinnati Bengals
  • FS Aaron Francisco (BYU) played special teams for the Indianapolis Colts and recorded two special teams tackles in a win over the Dolphins
  • QB Alex Smith (Utah) backed up starter Shaun Hill in the 49ers 23-10 win over Seattle
  • DB Jarrett Bush (Utah State) had three total tackles in loss to the Cincinnati Bengals
  • CB Brice McCain (Utah) played for the Houston Texans in a win over the Tennessee Titans 34-31
  • DE Jonathan Fanene (Utah) played for the Cincinnati Bengals and recorded two tackles in a 28-21 win over Green Bay
  • OT Donald Penn (Utah State) started for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in a 33-20 loss to the Buffalo Bills
  • DT Sione Pouha (East HS, Utah) played for the NY Jets and recorded 3 tackles in a 16-9 win over the New England Patriots
  • WR Todd Watkins (BYU) played for the Oakland Raiders and caught 1 pass for 28 yards that helped set up the game winning score over the Kansas City Chiefs 13-10. The catch was the first of his NFL career.
  • RG Deuce Lutui (Snow) started for the Arizona Cardinals in a 31-17 win over the Jacksonville Jaguars
  • LB Marques Harris (Southern Utah) played for the San Francisco 49ers and had a quarterback hurry and made two tackles on kickoffs in win over the Seahawks. in a 23-10 win over Seattle
  • OT Barry Sims (Park City HS, Dixie State, Utah) played for the San Francisco 49ers in a 23-10 win over Seattle
  • DE CJ Ah You (Lone Peak HS, BYU, Snow) played for the St. Louis Rams and recorded a tackle in a 9-7 loss to the Washington Redskins
  • Long Snapper John Denney (BYU) played for the Miami Dolphins in their 27-23 loss to the Colts
  • DL Paul Soliai (Utah) played for the Miami Dolphins in their 27-23 loss to the Colts
  • OG David Hale (Fremont HS, Weber State) played for the Baltimore Ravens
  • NT Kelly Talavou (Utah) played for the Baltimore Ravens
