SALT LAKE CITY(AP) -- Utah State University has named its new president this afternoon.
The Utah Board of Regents announced Stan Albrect as the school's 15th president.
Albrect is a favorite among both faculty and students.
He's replacing U-S-U's current president Kermit Hall, who has accepted a job to head up New York's university at Albany.
Albrect will take over the university's top job on February First.
A university spokesman says Albrecht's appointment was a "logical" step to carrying forward major initiatives. Those include cooperation with the University of Utah on research projects, fund-raising for U-S-U and new building projects currently underway.
Hall named Albrecht as U-S-U provost four years ago when the two were competing for the job as president.
