SALT LAKE CITY (AP) -- Heavy fog in northern Utah extended the five-month deployment of some Air Force personnel by at least one day.
A flight carrying more than 150 maintenance personnel and pilots on their way home to Hill Air Force Base in Ogden from Iraq was not allowed to land Thursday night because of the dense fog.
The flight carrying members of the 421st Fighter Squadron is now scheduled to land at Hill AFB at about 10:15 a.m. Friday, after being forced to land about 12 hours earlier in Las Vegas.
Several flights were either canceled, diverted or delayed on Thursday at Salt Lake City International Airport because of the thick fog, officials said.
