KEARNS -- Students at Bacchus Elementary School in Kearns honored two people Monday who help them stay safe: crossing guards Theresa Bright and Kathleen Beal.

It was a complete surprise to Bright and Beal, but they knew something was up when they were led to a red carpet while the students gave them a standing ovation, and then followed that up with gifts.

"We just felt like celebrities," Beal said. "I'm just so touched."

The Bacchus Parent-Teacher Association said it was grateful to have crossing guards who paid attention to and cared about each of the children.
