(KSL News) -- Students at a Salt Lake elementary school are giving to help one of their classmates. Two weeks ago fire gutted the home of the Langi family. They lost everything. Now students and neighbors at Mountain View Elementary are pitching in to help.

Jennifer Retzloff, the teacher of a first grade student, who lost everything she owned, organized the effort. She set up donation jars in every classroom in the school.
Jennifer Retzloff, Mountain View Elementary Teacher: "We have over $700 dollars worth of change donated to us. Most of it was donated from children in school; they're bringing in pennies, nickels and dimes."
In addition to the money, people have donated furniture, clothing and other household items to help the Langis get back on their feet.
