(KSL News) -- Democrats have voted on a replacement for Senator Paula Julander.
Scott McCoy from District Two was selected by state Democratic delegates this morning. McCoy defeated Julander's husband Rod by a vote of 44-41.
McCoy led the charge against Amendment 3 legislation.
If he is confirmed next week, McCoy would be Utah's first openly gay state senator.
