Kim Johnson ReportingSalt Lake Police have arrested a mailman who was caught peeping through the windows of an apartment in the Avenues.

Police found 29-year old Matthew Stones early Friday morning, lying down on his stomach, looking through this basement window. He has worked for the U.S. postal service for three years.

The residents of the apartment in the Capitol Hill area say they first saw a man peeping in their windows in December. One woman we spoke with says she surprised him when she left her apartment ten minutes earlier than usual.

Erica, Peeping Tom Victim: “As I walked outside I heard something up the street, and I was already shaking enough so I immediately looked up the street, heard crunching behind me, and turned around. And there he was, walking away super fast from the bushes.”

Erica and her roommates say each time they saw the white, balding man wearing a blue jacket, they called police. They say they always caught him in the morning. They say he even unscrewed the light bulb in a sensor light the landlord installed for security.

Stones was arrested Friday after police conducted surveillance on the apartment. He was booked into jail and released.
