ST. GEORGE, Utah (AP) -- We now have a little bit more information about the bridge that was washed out by heavy rains in the Gunlock area of southern Utah.
The bridge just northeast of Gunlock was initially washed out in the January flood.
Washington County emergency services coordinator Dean Cox says the bridge was temporarily repaired by inserting an eight-foot culvert and covering it with dirt.
The dirt around the culvert washed out Friday night or Saturday morning, making the road impassible again.
That leaves the unpaved Sand Cove Road as the only access into Gunlock. The southern part of the main road is still closed due to another washed-out bridge.
Cox said the timeline for bridge repairs depends on the rain. When the water levels go down, the county can fill the dirt back in again, although he says it could be three or four days.
