SALT LAKE COUNTY -- Rocky Mountain Power is trying to restore power right now to the southern end of the Salt Lake Valley.

Power officials say a substation at 800 West and 9000 South that feeds power to three other substations has gone down, leaving about 9,100 customers in Sandy, South Jordan, West Jordan and Bluffdale without electricity.

The outage occurred just before 3 p.m., literally two minutes after crews restored power to 3,300 customers in Weber County.

Though the Salt Lake County outage is not related to the Weber County outage, both were caused when substations went down.
