SALT LAKE CITY (AP) -- The Riverton man accused of going on a truck rampage through a South Jordan neighborhood on Monday is now facing 18 charges.

31-year-old Brandon Smith was charged yesterday in Third District Court.

He was charged with eight felony counts of criminal mischief, misdemeanor counts of driving under the influence and reckless driving. Smith was also charged with eight misdemeanor counts of failure to notify a police officer of an accident.

Police said Smith drove his truck into several backyards, through fences, hit two stop signs, three light posts, a fire hydrant and 17 trees.

Smith allegedly told police he had been using methamphetamine, cocaine and marijuana.
