SALT LAKE CITY (AP) -- The white supremacist being investigated in connection with the murders of a federal judge's family members in Chicago tried to spread his message in Utah.
Chicago investigators are trying to determine if Matthew Hale is connected to the killings of two family members of Judge Joan Humphrey Lefkow.
Police say Hale was furious when Lefkow ordered him to stop using the name World Church of the Creator. That's the same group that Hale twice brought to Utah.
In 2002, Hale spoke at the Sprague Library. It was full when he visited, but the majority of people were protesters or undercover police.
A more vocal group gathered outside the library to protest his appearance.
Hale also spoke in Utah in 2001. Police say only a dozen people showed up, and 10 of them were police officers.
