Yvonne De Carlo, the former star of hit 1960s television show "The Munsters", has died, a source at her retirement home said Wednesday. She was 84.
De Carlo died on Tuesday, a source at the Motion Picture and Television Fund's Retirement Home in the Woodland Hills district on the outskirts of Los Angeles said.
Born Peggy Yvonne Middleton in Vancouver, Canada, De Carlo emerged as a screen star during the 1950s, when she won acclaim for her portrayal of M Moses' wife in Cecil B. De Mille's 1956 biblical epic "The Ten Commandments."
However she was best known for playing elegant vamp Lily Munster in "The Munsters", which ran on US television network CBS from 1964-1966.
De Carlo's first film came in 1941 with "Harvard Here I Come!", one of nearly 100 movies she starred in. Other notable roles included the femme fatale opposite Burt Lancaster in the 1949 film noir "Criss-Cross."
In the 1970s and 1980s, De Carlo made a string of low-budget horror movies such as "House of Shadows", "Sorority House Murders" and "American Gothic."
De Carlo was married to the late stuntman Bob Morgan from 1955 to 1968,
and the couple had two sons.
