SALT LAKE CITY (AP) -- As part of the University of Utah's homecoming week the Lowell Bennion Community Service Center will celebrate its sixth annual service day.

The event will take place on Saturday from 8 a.m. to noon. People who want to volunteer will meet at Parkview Elementary at 970 Emery St. in Salt Lake City, then be transported to one of eight service sites.

Volunteer activities will include literacy tutoring, home repair projects for seniors, refugee site visits and delivery or assembling of dental kits.

The Legacy of Lowell Community Service Day is the kickoff event for the university's 2009 homecoming celebrations.
