SALT LAKE CITY (AP) -- Despite high gas prices -- the cost of driving a vehicle remains nearly unchanged from last year.
That's according to a Triple-A report.
This year, Triple-A estimates it will cost an average of 56-point-one cents per mile or 84-hundred and 10-dollars a year to own and operate a vehicle.
Offsetting higher gasoline costs are overall reductions in the annual average cost of insurance, licensing, registration, taxes, tires and maintenance for the vehicles used in this study.
The cost of gasoline in 2005 is estimated to average eight-point-five cents per mile or 12-hundred and 85-dollars per year in the Triple-A study. That's compared to 6-point-five cents per mile or nine-hundred and 75-dollars last year.
