SALT LAKE CITY (AP) -- The parents of a Riverton High School student who suffered a serious head injury in a scuffle with the school's resource officer say the cop used unnecessary force.

Yesterday, the parents of the 17-year-old boy met with Salt Lake County sheriff's Lieutenant Rod Norton to voice their complaint against Deputy Ben Bolduc.

The parents told Norton they thought the injury was NOT consistent with the crime.

The sheriff's office has launched an investigation into the incident. The boy remained in a coma yesterday.

Meanwhile, Bolduc returned back to work on Monday.
