CEDAR CITY -- One person was killed Friday when the driver of a pickup truck struck a minivan on Interstate 15 near Cedar City.
According to the Utah Highway Patrol, 16-year-old Colton Utley of Santa Clara was driving southbound on I-15 just after 5 p.m. He somehow lost control of his pickup and spun through the median into the northbound lanes, where he struck a white Toyota minivan.
The driver of that minivan, 42-year-old Nyal C. Bodily if Pleasant Grove, was killed. Troopers say he was wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash.
One of the passengers in the minivan was taken to the hospital with a broken hand.
Troopers say it doesn't appear that speed or alcohol played a role in the crash. They are still investigating what caused Utley to lose control of his vehicle.
