(KSL News) -- Last year Utah schools reported more than 530 incidents of students bringing a weapon to school. But the State Office of Education says that's actually good news.
Eighty-four of those reports involved real firearms, including 30 handgun incidents and five shot gun reports. Other incidents included pellet guns, explosive devices, and knives.
But the numbers are actually down from years past. In fact, according to the latest "Incidents of Prohibited Behavior in School or School Related Activities" report, weapons possession incidents have declined for the past three years in a row.
