WOODRUFF, Utah (AP) -- We now know the name of the snowmobiler killed in an avalanche yesterday in Rich County.

Authorities say 27-year-old Kyle Douglas Swayngim from Farr West was killed yesterday afternoon after being caught in an avalanche in the Monte Cristo area near Woodruff.

Officers say he was wearing an avalanche beacon and friends were able to dig him out of the snow, but unfortunately he did not survive.

This is the eighth avalanche death this year, the highest since the state started keeping records in 1951.
