SALT LAKE CITY -- After waiting through the holiday weekend, the polls have finally come out. The most intriguing question was how high would BYU jump after their 14-13 victory over No. 3-ranked Oklahoma.
With the biggest jump in the polls since 1990--when BYU jumped from 16 to 5 after defeating Miami--Tuesday's AP Poll sent the Cougars from No. 20 to No. 9. It's the second time in two years BYU has been in the Top 10.
The AP Poll ranks Florida, Texas and USC are the top 3; Boise State is No. 12; the Sooners dropped 10 spots to No. 13; TCU moved up a spot to No. 16; and the Utes are right behind TCU at No. 17, jumping two spots.
The Coaches' Poll wasn't quite as generous. Boise State sits at No. 11, then BYU at No. 12. Oklahoma is at No. 14, and TCU and Utah are at No. 16 and No. 17, respectively.

"That means absolutely nothing until the end of the season," said BYU defensive lineman Jan Jorgensen. "It's cool. It's nice to be recognized. After what happened, I don't know how you could not recognize us a little bit, but it's just a number right now."
Ute Head Coach Kyle Whittingham has a little experience with polls. Last year's Sugar Bowl team was not even ranked in the top 25 but ended up the No. 2 team in the nation.
"[It's] way too early," Whittingham said. "I think it's ridiculous to have any rankings prior to the fourth or fifth week of the season. That's my own personal opinion. With 11 weeks left in the season, to even mention the word BCS in anybody's situation is ridiculous. There's so much football to go, you just got to go week-to-week and hope to improve every week. They're (BYU) certainly off to a good start, but that's all it is."
