(KSL News) -- An Orem police officer who tried to stop a fight and was shot has gone home from the hospital.
Lieutenant Phil Murphy went to the apartment of David Burns, answering a domestic dispute call. When he arrived he saw Burns arguing with neighbors.Murphy stepped in to stop him, and Burns attacked.
As they fought another officer came to help. Burns managed to grab both officers' guns. He got Murphy's out of the holster and shot him in the shoulder.
Murphy had surgery last night and is now home recovering.
Burns is in jail.
