(KSL News) A criminal is off the streets of West Valley City. Samnang Yong was arrested by police last night.

Federal authorities say Yong was wanted for firearms violations.

A tip led police to a house late last night. Officers arrived and spotted Yong walking into the house. They waited and called him once he was inside.

Authorities from several agencies helped out, and fortunately Yong surrendered without a fight.

Sgt. Randy Maurer/ West Valley City Police Dept.: "He's a wanted individual. The warrant's for a firearms violation. He has a violent history, so we just wanted to be safe."

Yong is now in the Salt Lake County jail and is expected to face federal charges.
