SALT LAKE CITY (AP) -- Construction will begin this weekend on a new Salt Lake TRAX station.
Starting tomorrow, the work will begin along 200 West between 900 South and 800 South.
Salt Lake City Mayor Rocky Anderson says the 900 South TRAX station will help spur growth and increase mobility.
In early 2004, Salt Lake City officials asked the U-T-A to build the station. The city is funding construction with one-point-two (M)million dollars in Redevelopment Agency money in the hopes it will spur redevelopment.
Construction is expected to be completed by September. Once it's done, only 30-seconds will be added to travel times for TRAX.
New stations may be built in the future at 9400 South near Jordan Commons and at 700 South and Main in Salt Lake City.
