CEDAR HILLS, Utah (AP) -- Some students in Utah County will soon have a different school schedule in order to take a new approach toward teacher planning.
The Alpine School District Board of Education approved changes to schedules at all 61 elementary, junior high and high schools.
The schedule changes will lengthen school days four times a week and shorten Mondays by 45 to 55 minutes.
The time changes gives teachers more time to discuss individual students and their different needs, both academically and socially.
For example, teachers could gather to share ideas about what works for students who are good writers but struggle in math or discuss the best methods to teach Shakespeare.
Teachers will also look at weaknesses in education.
The new schedules and collaborative planning sessions will begin in the fall.
