SALT LAKE CITY (AP) An Amber Alert issued for a missing five-year-old girl was canceled just before 11 p.m. Saturday after the girl was found.

The alert was issued about 9:30 p.m., after her mother called police to say her child had not been seen since noon. Mullen Taylor Graham was believed to be with her mother's boyfriend, Brandon Nelson, who had been tending the child.

A Salt Lake County resident who knows Nelson saw a news report about the alert and contacted Nelson, who then contacted police, Taylorsville Police Sgt. Rosie Rivera said.

Graham and Nelson were located in parking lot of a West Valley City grocery store, she said.

Graham's mother last saw her child at 7:30 p.m. Saturday. At noon, she reportedly argued with Nelson over the telephone after he allegedly tried to forge a check on her bank account, Rivera said.

At the time, Nelson agreed to return home with Graham, but when nearly 10 hours passed without their return, the mother called police.

Nelson was in police custody and being questioned Saturday night, Rivera said.

Graham was reportedly fine and was to be reunited with her mother.

Dozens of calls came into police with tips about the child's whereabouts, after police issued the alert, which included a description of Graham and Nelson, and a description of Nelson's green Jeep Cherokee, including the license plate number.

We got many many leads,'' Rivera said. And that's what the Amber Alert is all about.''

The Amber Alert system is a partnership between the media and law enforcement community that links local and state authorities with media outlets when a child in the state is abducted.
