SALT LAKE CITY (AP) -- A man will stand trial for allegedly beating his girlfriend's four-year-old son to death last year.

Twenty-nine-year-old Adam Sean Jeppson is charged with child abuse homicide for the October death of Carson Williams.

Police said Jeppson told them the boy was injured when he crashed his Big Wheel tricycle while riding down a street. However, a state medical examiner said the boy's injuries were NOT consistent with a bike accident.

The boy suffered from a subdural hematoma, internal bleeding and cuts and bruises on his chest, abdomen and back.

A hearing is scheduled for Jeppson on June 17th.
