(KSL News) Flooding fears are subsiding a little bit this morning in Iron County.
Water managers say Cedar City's Coal Creek may have reached its highest level and may not go beyond its banks.
Several residents in the area are breathing a sigh of relief thanks to the good news.
And, we also have a happy ending to report for a woman who's home is surrounded by Quichapa Lake.
Manned in a large truck, Iron County Search and Rescue Teams came to help Cathy Wardlow. Wardlow's home was practically submerged by the lake when spring runoff caused the lake's level to rise.
The massive truck went straight through the lake, and straight to Cathy's house to help her pack up her belongings.
Mark Gower/ Iron County Sheriffs Office: "We were wondering when we were coming if it was heavy enough to sink through. But it's a good gravel base on the roadway, so we've been lucky."
And when we spoke with Cathy earlier this week, a member of her family was missing. Cathy lives with her father and two house cats. One disappeared when the lake began to invade her property. But the cat popped up from a woodpile yesterday while rescue teams were helping Cathy move.
Cathy Wardlow/ Iron County Resident: "But she came right out and let me pick her up and we did our little hug, hug, kiss kiss."
Cathy says she's grateful for all the help she's received in the last few days. She now plans to live in a trailer on a neighbor's property, but hopes the lake's levels will drop soon, so she can return home.
