NORMAN, Okla. (AP) -- Oklahoma coach Bob Stoops says Austin Box will be the primary backup for middle linebacker Ryan Reynolds while senior Mike Balogun's eligibility remains in question.

At his weekly news conference Tuesday, Stoops listed Box, who filled in when Reynolds was injured last season, as the first player to back up Reynolds. He also says freshman Ronnell Lewis could play.

Box is the backup to outside linebacker Travis Lewis, but he was forced into duty in the middle last season when Reynolds sustained a season-ending knee injury against Texas.

When Box was hurt later in the season, Balogun started the national championship game.

Stoops has said Balogun is not expected to travel with the third-ranked Sooners for Saturday's game against No. 20 BYU.
