Since Bob Stoops' arrival in 1999, the Oklahoma Sooners have made their name as special teams specialists.
In the ten seasons under Stoops' direction, the Sooners have scored 26 special teams touchdowns, including 15 punt return touchdowns and 8 kickoff return scores.
In the same span of time, BYU has one kick return score--McKay Jacobson's 77-yard punt return scamper in 2006. The Cougars' last kickoff return touchdown was on October 17, 1998, when Mike Rigell "housed" Hawaii.

While not special teams scores, Stoops' Sooners have surpassed the above touchdown tally on defense, with 27 scores on interception (21) and fumble (6) returns.

Bronco noted in Monday's press conference that while BYU has struggled against ranked teams for a number of years now (2-18 in last 20 games versus ranked opponents; 12 consecutive losses to ranked nonconference opponents), most of BYU's opportunities for marquee success have come away from home.
Since the 1998 home win over #14 Arizona State:
BYU has played only three home games against ranked opponents, two of which were nonconference foes (a loss to USC in 2004, and a loss to Boston College in 2005). BYU played and beat Colorado State in 1999 for its only home win over a ranked team in the last 11 years.
BYU has played 17 road or neutral games against ranked opponents, 10 of which were against nonconference opposition; BYU's record in those games is 0-10. Of the seven road/neutral games agsinst ranked conference foes, BYU has won one--the 31-17 decision at TCU in 2006.
