(KSL News) -- A drive-by shooting in Salt Lake County sent a 15-year-old girl to the hospital overnight.

Teen Injured in Drive-by Shooting

The girl was standing outside a house when, witnesses say, they heard four or five gunshots shortly after midnight. Deputies recovered several shell casings outside the house. They say it's fortunate only the 15-year-old girl was hit.

Sgt. Scott Van Wagoner, Salt Lake County Sheriff's Office: "She's received some wounds to her legs and has been transported to the hospital for medical treatment. She's doing well."

Deputies think the shooting is gang related. They don't know how many suspects are out there, but witnesses say the shooter may have gotten away in a dark colored SUV or minivan.
