I am frequently out on the road while doing interviews for "Speaking on Business." I pride myself on keeping my car clean because I think it makes travel more pleasant.
As such, I have been a regular customer of Bishoff Car Wash and Detail on 3300 South. Recently, Curt Bishoff completely remodeled and installed a new wash system. He and his partner, Dow Jones, also renamed the facility FireHouse Car Wash and Detail.
Dow founded FireHouse Car Wash and Detail in American Fork in 2006, with outlets in North Salt Lake and Sandy. Thanks to his partnership with Curt, the Bishoff facility in Bountiful will also change to the FireHouse name and format this fall.
It took about six weeks to remove previous equipment from the carwash and install the state-of-art MacNeil conveyor system. During that period, Bishoff's remained open and the staff hand-washed cars. The new system utilizes soft foam components, reverse osmosis spot-free rinse, water recycling and a new feature that automatically applies dressing to the tires. Curt says the equipment is the finest in the industry. The soft foam system is a series of light fingers that safely clean cars with soap and water instead of strong chemicals and acids often found in other touchless systems.
Among some of the company's highlights are that employees are taught the three-point focus of speed, quality and customer delight and customers receive a 48-hour rain guarantee. The company recycles 100 percent of the water it uses and utilizes environmentally-friendly soaps and chemicals. And Dow told me that FireHouse now offers a new service at the 3300 South location: Customers can opt for an exterior-only wash and drive through an express lane. Employees towel dry the car by hand to finish the job that usually takes less than 10 minutes.
Dow and Curt make a great business team. Their customer service philosophies match, and Curt is delighted with the new system, the new name and the partnership.
