(KSL News) -- Utah teachers are some of the lowest paid in the nation. That's according to the National Education Association's annual "Rankings and Estimates" report for 2004.

Utah ranked 39th in the country when it comes to teacher salaries. The average salary in Utah last year was almost 39-thousand dollars, about 7-thousand less than the national average.

The report also found Utah has mroe students per teacher than any other state, and it ranked last in per-pupil spending.
