PERRY, Utah (AP) -- A Logan man was killed yesterday after driving into a semitrailer stopped at a construction zone on Interstate 15 near Perry.
The Utah Highway Patrol identified the victim as 28-year-old Spencer Garrett Lofland.
The truck and other vehicles were stopped in heavy traffic at a construction zone on I-15.
Witnesses told patrol investigators that Lofland's car was traveling about 80 miles per hour when it approached the stopped traffic without slowing down.
It sideswiped another car before hitting the semi's trailer.
Lofland was not wearing a seat belt. He was thrown about 100 feet from the vehicle, which rolled a few hundred feet down an embankment after the crash.
