SALT LAKE CITY (AP) -- A preliminary hearing is set for a man accused of killing his ex-wife's girlfriend outside a West Valley City apartment complex this month.
Twenty-five-year-old Trey Holloway-Brown is charged with first-degree felony murder in the June 10th stabbing death of 27-year-old Norma Espinoza Hernandez
Court documents allege Holloway-Brown and his ex-wife were arguing when Hernandez tried to intervene. He then allegedly grabbed a knife, chased Hernandez and stabbed her several times.
Gay and lesbian groups have labeled the death as a hate crime. However, prosecutors say they have found no evidence of that under Utah law.
His preliminary hearing is set for July 12th before 3rd District Judge Denise Lindberg.
