Samantha Hayes Reporting2007 is already an exciting year for a few Utah families. Local hospitals report many newborns this morning, but the closest to 12:00 am goes to a family in Heber whose baby was born just two minutes after midnight.

At 12:02 Maria Espinoza gave birth to a little boy. The doctors said little Alan would have the number twelve in his birth date, but they were expecting that to be the day, not the time.
Maria Espinoza, Mother: "She was very surprised because she didn't expect this date. She was thinking January 12th."
Her new son is six and a half pounds and nineteen inches long, and very healthy.
"They said they are very happy to have a baby on this date and they are very thankful to God for giving them such a happy gift."

A few minutes later, at 12:19 in Ogden, Miko and Will Bowen also welcomed a son, and they too did not expect a New Year's Baby.
Miko Bowen, Mother: "His due date was January 29th, so completely unexpected."
But they already had his name -- Arthur William Bowen the fifth, Liam for short.
At 5:47 this morning doctors at University Hospital in Salt Lake City delivered a little girl, Taiomah Thomas. Taiomah would have been born in Nevada, but her mom was flown in because of complications. Everything is fine now, a great start to the New Year.
Courtney Thomas, Mother: "Unbelievable, exciting!"
All three new year's babies were born earlier than expected, but all are healthy and their mothers and doing well too.
