SALT LAKE CITY (AP) -- Intermountain Health Care says it will give their doctors and nurses palm-pilot like devices to keep better track of medications used by its patients.
I-H-C is working with G-E Healthcare to speed up the adoption of comprehensive electronic health records.
The computerized drug system, called eMAR for electronic medication administration record, will control medications and doses from doctor to pharmacy to nurse.
I-H-C spokesman Kevin Smith said the goal is to improve a system that tracks two (M)million medical transactions a day. He said no human can do that and the devices will help doctors and nurses who can't possibly keep up.
G-E Healthcare is donating the wireless hand-held devices.
