TOOELE, Utah (AP) -- A woman has been sentenced to prison in the death of her five-month-old son.
A judge sentenced 29-year-old Connie Long yesterday to serve up to 15 years for the death of her baby son back in January.
Long's attorney said his client's husband, Kevin P. Long, was the main person responsible for the baby's death. He said Connie was mainly a passive parent.
Prosecutors claim Kevin Long caused the child to suffocate after he hit the infant, stuck a pacifier in his mouth and wrapped him in an afghan. The incident happened in front of the mother.
Kevin has already been sentenced from one to 15 years in prison.
The judge said Connie was an active participant and knew what was happening. Connie Long's child abuse homicide sentence will run consecutively with a five year sentence for drug possession.
