(KSL News) -- A man pedaling a get-away bicycle wound up in the hospital when his escape plan failed.
The Sheriff's department says the man stole a lawn mower in the vicinity of 8th East and 33rd South. He was dragging it behind the bike.

Neighbors saw what he was up to and started to chase him in their car. He went through a school yard trying to get away, dumped the mower, threw his bike over a fence and then he jumped over.
He got back on the bike and rode into a busy street where he was hit by a construction truck. He is reported in critical condition.
