UPDATE:Shaw was released from the Summit County Jail on August 26 after the Summit County Attorney's Office determined there was insufficient evidence to file attempted kidnapping charges. The Summit County Sheriff's Office says the case is not closed and that it is actively investigating Shaw. It says he remains a "person of interest" and is asking for witnesses to come forward.
COALVILLE -- A Summit County man was arrested Sunday for trying to kidnap an 11-year-old boy.
The Summit County Sheriff's Office says Keith Shaw started talking to the boy around 2 p.m. near the skate park in Coalville and tried to talk him into coming with him to his house by offering him food. When that didn't work, police say he tried to grab him and drive off.
Deputies say two women who knew Shaw saw what was going on and stopped him from taking the boy.
Shaw was booked into the Summit County Jail on suspicion of attempted child kidnapping. He does have a record of child sex abuse.
