Carole Mikita ReportingFrom northern to southern Utah stadiums have been packed with tens of thousands of teenagers in what's called a 'Day of Celebration'. In Logan, Ogden, Salt Lake, Provo and St. George Latter-day Saints young people are singing and dancing in programs that commemorate two anniversaries important to their faith.
As festivities began in Ogden and in other stadiums the sheer number of young people was amazing. Tens of thousands of them had been rehearsing music and choreography for months; their church leaders told them it was their chance to take center stage in a year of anniversaries.
They are honoring the founder of their faith, Joseph Smith on his 200th birthday and the 175th year since their church was organized.
Elder Russell M. Ballard, The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints: "We love and appreciate your effort in this wonderful day of celebration."
The energy was contagious as 12 to 18-year-old Latter-day Saints in the Salt Lake Valley took to the field in an expression of their faith that was both fun and creative.
