WASHINGTON (AP) -- Utah Senator Robert Bennett is among a bipartisan group of U-S Senators planning to visit South America.

The trip is being led by incoming Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid. Trip includes stops in Bolivia, Ecuador and Peru. Senators expect to be away for about a week, leaving today and returning January Second.

Reid says the purpose of the trip is to show the commitment of the U.S. to strengthening ties with our neighbors in South America. They'll also explore vital security and economic and political issues of mutual concern.

The Senators are scheduled to meet with the presidents and other leaders in all three countries. -------- Other senators planning to make the trip include: .. Illinois Senator Dick Durbin .. North Dakota Senator Kent Conrad .. New Hampshire Senator Judd Gregg .. Colorado Senator Ken Salazar.
