LEHI, Utah (AP) -- Two junior high students have been suspended in connection with a fight that started when one of them allegedly made a racial slur.
The dispute began on Monday. That's when police say a ninth-grader at Lehi Junior High reportedly made a negative comment about Hispanics while waiting for the bus. Officers say a group of nearby Hispanic students heard the comment and confronted the teen. However, the bus arrived and police say the students scattered.
But the next day, officers say six Hispanic students confronted the ninth-grader, this time shoving him. The teen then punched one of the Hispanic students in the face.
All the students were cited and will have to appear in juvenile court. While, the two who got into a fight were suspended.
