LOGAN -- In another sign of the economic times, Utah State University announced that it will stop holding a commencement ceremony after the fall semester.
USU began holding the fall commencement about five years ago so students who graduate then don't have to wait until spring to be recognized.
The school still plans to hold this year's ceremony in December, but beginning next year it will go back to an annual spring commencement only.
Administrators say the fall commencement is a casualty of recent budget cuts. Low participation and weather concerns were also a factor in the decision.
