WEST JORDAN -- A 6-year-old boy was seriously burned in a parking lot Monday outside the Kohl's store at Jordan Landing.
Workers had just filled cracks in the asphalt with hot tar, and the boy stepped on it. He wasn't wearing shoes.
The boy suffered second- and third-degree burns on his feet and burned his hands trying to pull off the tar.
The boy's parents want to know why the area with hot tar wasn't roped off or why there were no warning signs.
