TAYLORSVILLE, Utah (AP) -- A 32-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of abandoning a stolen car with a 6-week-old child inside.
Taylorsville police arrested Shawn Bergeron on Friday, three days after he was accused of driving away from Salt Lake City police in the stolen car with the infant.
Salt Lake County sheriff's deputies say the child's mother had been riding with Bergeron, but stepped out of the car to talk to a friend when Bergeron took off with the baby.
Bergeron is accused of later jumping out of the car and leaving the infant behind as police pursued him.
He was booked into the Salt Lake County Jail on Friday afternoon.
