SALT LAKE CITY -- ATK announced Thursday it will cut 10 percent of its workforce in October. A spokeswoman for the company says about 450 employees will lose their jobs.
The layoffs follow several contract losses, some of them from the U.S. Department of Defense.

The announcement comes the same week the company unveiled its new Ares 1 booster rocket.
