PARK CITY, Utah (AP) -- Salt Lake City's Zach Lund has won his first World Cup skeleton gold medal.
Lund completed a first-place sweep for American sliders when his two runs this afternoon at Utah Olympic Park were 16-hundreths of a second faster than Canadian Jeff Pain.
Lund stood at the finish and watched as Russian Alexander Tretiakov got off to a great start on the final run, but faltered in the middle and the American's time held up for first.
Lund finished with a combined time of 1 minute, 38-point-15 seconds.
Lund is coming off a one-year doping suspension, which cost him a spot in the Turin Olympics. He tested positive last November for Finasteride, a banned substance often used as a steroid-masking agent. It also is found in a hair-restoration product Lund used.
U-S slider Katie Uhlaender remained perfect in the young World Cup season with her second victory in as many weeks earlier in the day.
